Preparing Your RFQ
A casting RFQ checklist helps engineering and purchasing teams compare quotations against the same specification. Include the drawing revision, material standard, order quantities, machining and acceptance requirements.

Define the part
Send a controlled drawing revision, 3D model where available, part number, material grade and specification standard. Mark critical features and any deviations from the standard.
Define the order
Provide the trial quantity, normal order quantity and estimated annual demand. Include the delivery destination, required date and any packing or identification requirements.
Define acceptance
Specify the required material records, dimensional reports, testing methods and acceptance levels. State whether samples require formal approval before production.
Compare the complete scope
Review tooling charges, material condition, secondary operations, inspection documents, delivery terms and any exclusions together. Resolve assumptions in writing before placing an order.
A practical RFQ example
Use a subject such as “Casting RFQ — part number — drawing revision”. Attach the controlled drawing, then list the required material and standard, trial quantity, repeat quantity, annual demand and delivery country. Add the machined surfaces, heat treatment, surface finish and requested inspection records. Ask the supplier to identify assumptions and exclusions explicitly.
Confirm samples and repeat orders
Agree whether tooling and samples require separate approval, what documents accompany the first parts, and how drawing revisions will be controlled for repeat orders. If the project needs a confidentiality agreement, arrange it before sharing restricted drawings. Use the inquiry form for a project review or email William with your RFQ package.
