Bring machining requirements into the casting discussion from the start. A clear finished-part specification helps connect geometry, datums and inspection.
Functional surfaces first
Highlight threads, bores, sealing faces and mating surfaces. Finished-part drawings should distinguish as-cast surfaces from machined features and identify the datums used for measurement.
One complete specification
Provide the casting drawing, machining drawing and 3D model where available. Include any requirements for deburring, cleanliness, surface finish, protective coatings and packing.
